Taking Risk As An Entrepreneur

It takes a lot of courage to become a successful entrepreneur. Are you open to taking risk as an entrepreneur?

Entrepreneurs Give Up The Security Of Working For Someone Else

Firstly, employees for the most part enjoy a guaranteed wage, health benefits, paid vacation, predictable workdays and guaranteed hours. This simply is not the case as an entrepreneur. There are no guarantees, ever. Many people decide to start their own business for many different reasons.

Business Owners Believe In Themselves and Their Skillset

Secondly, having self-confidence as an entrepreneur is critical to your success in business. Without confidence, nothing happens. You need to sell yourself and your services or products to potential customers. If you are not confident in what you do for a living, why would potential customers be? With a positive attitude of “let’s get it done”, entrepreneurs have the power to unleash their full potential. With a great attitude you can influence buyer decisions, motivate team members as well as navigate challenging economies with confidence.

You Need To Be Willing To Take On A Lot Of Risk

Thirdly, employees really do not understand the amount of risk that it takes to start, build and grow a business. Why risk everything for an unknown future in your own business? Sales could be down and the economy could have softened. What if your rent is going up? You still need a paycheck and so do your employees. Where does the money come from if your revenue has really dropped? Expenses do not take a vacation.

Many Entrepreneurs Are Rebels

Equally important as the other points, business owner’s never conform to the status quo. I have worked at a few multi-national companies and I always felt like I was a square peg in a round hole. I felt like a robot following scripted sales pitches and presentations. It felt so unnatural going against my free thinking personality. For me, it’s exciting to work independently to make up my own rules and policies. To have the flexibility to change things when the need arises is so freeing to me. The future is uncertain, but I have the confidence in myself, my business partner and our teram to know that business will be okay, no matter how the year unfolds.

Business Owners Need To Be Goal Orientated

Finally, I take my goals seriously, it’s amazing to me what can be accomplished when you and your team are high drivers. I have found in the past that I would work towards the corporate goals that were provided to me as an employee. For the most part, I met the goals that were provided by corporate, but in our own business, I never want to put any kind of a limitation on the goals. In my mind, the sky is the limit.

Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. If you are thinking of going out on your own, understand that you will be taking risk as an entrepreneur, but it will be so worth it if you have the confidence to roll with the punches and face every new challenge with confidence and a positive attitude.
