Business Environment After Covid

We are starting to hopefully say good bye to Covid. Now the work starts to head to a new sense of normalcy in your business.  It’s important to remember, a return to the office may look a whole lot differently because of the pandemic. This presents every entrepreneur like you with an opportunity to re-evaluate your existing corporate culture in  business post Covid. How can you create an engaging environment that’s challenging, yet supportive in your business? One that is also educational but fun for your team members? It’s important for you to take the necessary time to create a culture in your business that’s both rewarding and empathetic for your staff.

We have heard from some of our clients that their employees aren’t as excited to get back to work as the entrepreneur is. It’s going to be important for you, as a business owner, to create a strategy for the return that ensures your business can succeed.  Your actions need to demonstrate that you’re mindful of your staff’s concerns about creating a healthy and safe work environment for both customers and your team. It’s a fine line to walk, and it’s important to have a plan in place. As you start to put together your strategy for a return to work, here are a few helpful hints:

Firstly, Flexibility Is Your Friend

The forced transition to remote work during the pandemic accelerated work-from-home trends. What we didn’t plan for, was the introduction of countless employees freed from their daily commutes. It also demonstrated to many employers that productivity can remain high even when your workers are away from the office. For many businesses, employees working remotely isn’t a good fit.  Developing a hybrid model where a portion of time is in the office and the balance is work from home can help preserve that lifestyle and flexibility. Because of such a long time working remotely,  so many workers have come to enjoy this new work life. You may want to consider work schedules that  could be staggered so a certain percentage of employees are in the business on certain days, while the others work remotely.

Secondly, Compassion Goes a Long Way

One reason so many employees cherish remote work is because it affords them greater freedom to devote time to themselves and their families.  This isn’t a bad thing and if managed wisely, can enhance the work experience for your employee. Also, some childcare centers may not be fully open yet, putting pressures on working parents.  It’s hard for them to juggle their jobs and family responsibilities. Be aware of situations like that, and provide your employees the flexibility they need to focus on the things they grew accustomed to managing more readily during the past year.

.

Lastly, Reassure Employees

Additionally, many of your employees might having lingering concerns around the pandemic.  You need to outline with your staff the various steps you’ve taken to ensure they have a safe place to work. Be sure to address important COVID-19 safety issues, such as ways to ensure fresh airflow into the office, guidance on how many people can be in a room at a given time and your policies for mask-wearing.

Finally, don’t forget to go over the corporate culture in small business post Covid.
